Levest & common side effects
Most common negative side effects of taking a contraceptive pill
When you first start to take Levest, there are some side effects that could occur whilst your body adjusts to the effects of the contraceptive pill. These side effects are not serious, and usually settle down within a couple of months, and not everyone will get them.
- When you start taking Levest you may experience nausea or headaches. About one in 10 people can expect to experience mild nausea or a headache at some point in the first couple of months. However, these symptoms usually disappear after a few cycles and are not serious.
- The pill can lead to fluid retention and breast enlargement with some tenderness, but this usually settles down as your body adjusts to the effects of your contraceptive pill.
- You may get breakthrough bleeding (spotting or light bleeding) in the first months of use of Levest, but this will usually resolve within a few months of taking the pill.
If you find that you are still having problems after three cycles, do go and speak to your doctor or other healthcare provider.
