Taking a combined oral contraceptive pill for the first time

Am I protected from pregnancy straightaway? 

When you take an oral contraceptive pill for the first time, you may need to take additional precautions to make sure that you are properly protected from pregnancy during your first week of taking the pill. 

It can take up to seven days to establish full contraceptive cover, depending on which day of your period you start to take the pill and whether you have been on any other form of hormonal contraception before you were prescribed Levest.
