About Levest

Your health provider has prescribed you Levest, which is a combined oral contraceptive; you may know this better as a birth control pill or ‘The Pill’. Which ever name you prefer to call it, your Levest contraceptive pill must be taken exactly as directed in the instructions to prevent you from becoming pregnant.

What is in Levest?

Levest contains two types of female sex hormones which act to prevent a pregnancy: an estrogen called ethinylestradiol and a progestin called levonorgestrel.

If you would like to learn more about how these hormones work to prevent pregnancy, see Preventing pregnancy to learn more about what effects Levest has on your body.

Why was I given Levest?

If you want to find out more about why Levest was chosen as your contraceptive method, please talk to your doctor or other healthcare professional. They will be able to explain in greater detail why Levest has been selected as the right choice for your contraception.

If you have been receiving Microgynon 30 up until now, and have been given Levest instead, then please click here for more information on this change.
